EICRs & certificates
- What is an EICR and do I need one?
- An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is a formal inspection and test of the fixed wiring in a property. It checks the consumer unit, circuits, sockets, switches and earthing, and reports anything unsafe or not up to current standards. Landlords in England need a satisfactory EICR at least every 5 years by law. Homeowners often get one when buying, selling, or if the installation is old and hasn't been checked.
General
- Do you do commercial work, EV chargers or CCTV?
- No. S.L Electrical Services is domestic only, meaning houses, flats and rental properties. No commercial jobs, EV chargers or CCTV.
- Are you qualified, registered and insured?
- Yes. S.L Electrical Services is NICEIC registered and fully insured, and Steve has over 16 years in the trade. Work is tested and certified, and notified to building control where the regulations require it.
- Will you take on small jobs?
- Happily. A single socket, a faulty light switch, an extractor fan or a bit of fault finding are exactly the sort of jobs Steve likes. You don't need to have a long list.
Pricing & booking
- How much does an EICR cost?
- It depends on the size of the property and the number of circuits, so Steve will give you a price before starting. A typical two or three bedroom house is straightforward. Call or message with the property details for a firm quote, no obligation.
- Do you charge for a quote or a call out to quote?
- No. Giving you a price is free. For many jobs Steve can quote from a phone call, a few photos or a WhatsApp message. For bigger work he'll arrange to come and look.

Areas & travel
- What areas do you cover?
- Doncaster and the surrounding towns and villages are the main patch, including places like Sprotbrough, Bessacarr, Bawtry, Tickhill, Armthorpe, Conisbrough, Mexborough, Thorne, Stainforth, Auckley and Rossington. Steve will also consider work further afield in South Yorkshire, so it's worth asking, though he can't always guarantee he can cover it.
